The publishing group Bloomsbury has extended its coverage of academic and non-fictional material with the acquisition of the US group ABC-CLIO LLC for £17.3m. This is a Californian-based academic publisher which has over 23,000 titles in its portfolio supplying schools and academic institutions primarily in the USA. These are supplied in both digital and print formats and the acquisition is expected to be earnings enhancing in the current financial year. It is a good strategic fit for Bloomsbury, strengthening the company's digital business and expanding its exposure in the US . . .
